The effect of oil price shocks and exchange rate variability on economic growth in oil-exporting countries

Abstract

The purpose of this study was investigation of effect of oil price shocks and exchange rate variability on economic growth in oil-exporting countries. The result of model estimation in Iran shows that most of the changing in real exchange rate has been positive on economical growth. It means that by increasing real exchange rate during the analysis period in Iran from 1980-2008 economical growth in Iran increased. The results of model estimation in Iran show that the impact of oil price changing has been negative on economical growth. It means that by increasing the price of each barrel of crude oil during 1980 -2008 in Iran economical growth was decreasing in Iran.
