The Effect Of Short Term Exercise On Lipid Profile

Abstract
Background: Exercise leads to better body composition of lipids which protect the cardiovascular system from diseases like atherosclerosis. Aims and Objectives: To study the effect of short term exercise on lipid profile Material and Methods: The study was conducted on 69 subjects out of whom 38 were females, 31 were males in the age group of 20 to 55 years apparently healthy free from Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus or any systemic disease. They were assessed for their plasma lipid profile pre-exercise and post-exercise, using standard methods and techniques. Results: Results were found to be statistically significant for decrease levels of plasma lipids after short term exercise. Conclusions: The study correlated well with short term exercise and decreased plasma lipid profile levels, which protects from cardiovascular diseases like Atherosclerosis and thereby decreasing morbidity and mortality. Habitual exercise will lead to better quality of life with nominal increase in life expectancy compared to sedentary persons.
