The effects and mechanisms of extracellular matrix proteins on congenital tooth malformation

Journal Title: Biomedical Transformation - Year 2023, Vol 4, Issue 3

Abstract

Congenital tooth developmental anomalies refer to a type of tooth disease where the shape or structure of the teeth is abnormal during embryonic development or after birth. Such anomalies may affect the growth, chewing function, and aesthetics of the teeth, and in severe cases, may also affect the oral health and quality of life of patients. The etiology and pathogenesis of congenital tooth developmental anomalies are complex, and various factors that affect tooth development may lead to these anomalies. Extracellular matrix proteins are a type of protein present in the extracellular matrix of teeth that play an important role in tooth growth, development, and maintenance of tooth health. This article elaborates the role and impact mechanism of extracellular matrix proteins in congenital tooth developmental anomalies, providing a basis for a better understanding of the etiology, pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of congenital tooth developmental anomalies.
