Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases have been the most important causes of death worldwide and in Iran due to decrease in physical activities. The positive effects of physical activities in preventing and treating of these diseases are obvious. However, the type physical activities and other influential variables need further studies, because the results of studies are so contradictory in some cases. This study aims to determine the effects of relatively long-term sub-maximal exercises (with 55- 70% maximum heart rate) on some cardiovascular risk factors among inactive middle -aged men.Pre-test and post-test were conducted. The method used was Quasi-experimental research and sample was voluntary faculty members and staff of university to achieve fitness and health (n=25, age M= 39.44 ±1.56 year, weight 81.6±3.85 Kg). First, all participants were introduced to physicians and medical examination laboratories to determine their participation in the exercises. The results showed that the different between level low density lipoprotein and total Cholesterol before these trainings and after them was not significant. However, there were significant differences between physical activity and weight, BMI, fasting blood sugar, high density lipoprotein and triglyceride According to the results of this research, it can be claimed that doing sub-maximal exercises prevents development of cardiovascular risk factors and can replace drug therapy and even surgery in some cases. In addition, they will lead to physical and mental health and even treatment some of related diseases. Ultimately, they will lead to greater efficiency and help increase and promote mental health and competent students.
