Abstract
An attempt to read ethnikon «Cumans» as a self-designation. The procedure for the disclosure of the claimed emphasis is based on the paradigm of «Polovtsi-autochthonous», which functioned in evaluation origins polovets at the initial stage of formation of historical science. It demonstrated a level depending on the etymology ethnikon «Cumans» of the event a number of X-XI centuries.
