THE EUROPEAN UNION INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT – THE MAASTRICHT TREATY

Abstract
The Maastricht Treaty establishes the objectives and the competences of the European Union. The EU has certain objectives: constantly developing a stronger union of the European countries and the promotion of economical progress and social balance, especially by creating a space with no internal crossing border, by strengthening the economical and social connection and by creating the Monetary and Economical Union, affirming its identity on an international scale, by a common defense community, strengthening the protection of citizen’s interests and rights, developing an amassed cooperation in the juridical and internal businesses.
