Journal Title: Roczniki Bieszczadzkie - Year 2011, Vol 19, Issue 1
Abstract
The interactions of the forest management and nature protection are particularly well visible in the Carpathian part of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Krosno (RDSF Krosno). This area is managed by the Forest Districts: Baligród, Bircza, Brzozów, Cisna, Dukla, Dynów, Kołaczyce, Komańcza, Lesko, Lutowiska, Rymanów, Stuposiany, and Ustrzyki Dolne. They cover the total area of 236 395.58 ha. A large part of the forest here is protected as landscape parks, nature reserves and Natura 2000 areas. The number of game species and protected animals are present. The management of the forest is also subject to other rules, because it must respect the requirements of nature protection. The text discusses the historical conditions of forest management in the mountains and the state of the nature protection in the area of forestry management, including costs paid by the Forest Districts in relation to the phenomena connected with nature protection, which reach as much as 16.2% of the total cost of their maintenance.
