The formation of professionally oriented foreign language reading competence for future engineers at technical universities

Abstract
The article describes the training model for future engineers at the technical universities of professionally oriented Eng¬lish-language reading and the ways of implementing the model in classes on the academic discipline "Foreign Language" ac-cording to the following parameters: thematic sections, quantity of hours, stages of training, the system of proper exercises. It is noted that the model of educational process for the formation of professionally oriented English-language reading competence is realized on the principles of step-by-step learning, cyclicality, systemacity, professional orientation of training. The process of realization of three main stages of the text reading is described in details: pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading. For each stage of the text work, different types of exercises are proposed that meet the goals of each stage and determine which techniques should be used at each stage. The program of the academic discipline "Foreign language" is analyzed, the subject and object of study are determined. The main content modules are listed as a result of which the improvement and the develop¬ment of the skills of professionally oriented English-language reading of professional tests by students of technical university are developed. The main types of control: current, intermediate and final control and the assessment of students’ educational achievements in the process of formation of professionally oriented English-language reading competence are considered. It is described how the assessment of students' knowledge on the disciplines is carried out, where the credit or exam is the form of final control and how the grades are distributed according to the form of control. The table of transferring the grades of the 100-point scale to the national and European scales, which is used in Kherson national technical university, is presented.
