The health professional as a mediator of emotions
Journal Title: Revista Eletronica de Enfermagem - Year 2010, Vol 12, Issue 4
Abstract
The exhaustion of the biomedical paradigm demands a new model of professional formation that can focus on the recognition of the multidimensional nature of society and the human. Therefore, this article aims to reflect the mediation of emotions as a practical responsible intervention, cooperative and paradigmatic. In view of different authors, new tendencies in education and health we seek to rethink dualisms and viewpoints that, in a reductionist perspective, tend to be excluded, like reason and emotion, mind and body. Thus, the complex unity of human nature is crumbling along their training process by the proposed segmentation by disciplines. We concluded provisionally that the education of an emotion mediator constitutes a major challenge toward humanized health practices due to a slow process of awareness and sensitization professional. The actions of health professionals are not limited to the technical act, but expand the educational actions that could restore health to individuals, and thus a broader sense, with a large social responsibility. Therefore, the mediation of emotions is highlighted as a new trend for education.
