THE IMPACT OF CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING ON SOME EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES OF STUDENTS OF PEDAGOGY

Abstract
The current article focuses on the practical implementation of a relatively new educational approach known as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in the training of students of pedagogy. Claiming equal importance to both the foreign language (English) and the non-linguistic discipline (Environmental Education), the study aims at analyzing the impact of CLIL on some educational outcomes such as students’ language knowledge and skills, interest in the subject being thought, as well as their willingness to teach it in their future profession. A total of 107 students in two experimental and three control groups took part in the study. Data from language assessment tests and questionnaire forms were analyzed with the help of descriptive statistics, correlations, one-way ANOVA and a t-test. The analysis indicates an improvement in language learning results for CLIL students who also exhibit a more profound interest in learning and willingness to teach the respective subject.
