The impact of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on the human rights protection in Ukraine

Abstract
The article examines the activities of the European Court of Human Rights and the impact of its decisions on the human rights protection in Ukraine. It is noted that effective protection of human rights is one of the main features of the state governed by the rule of law. Today, the ECHR has become a reliable tool for protecting the rights of citizens having lost hope for justice in their country. There is mentioned a tendency of the increasing number of complaints filed with the European Court of Human Rights against Ukraine. This indicates the intensity of the processes of establishing democracy and the low efficiency of the national judicial system in the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms. There is made a conclusion of the imperfection of the national judicial system that is related to the general crisis of public confidence in all institutions of power, in particular the activities of law enforcement bodies and courts.
