The Importance of Modulators for the Usable Field in Fibre-Optics at Microwave Frequencies
Journal Title: International Journal of Research in Computer and Communication Technology - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
The main discussion of this article will be an in-depth study of one of the main types of light modulating device – The External Modulator which is used in modern fibre optical systems. An overview of the fibre optical medium will be dealt with initially, and then the principles of operation, classification, applications and future developments will be examined. Finally, areas of further research in this field will be looked at. A comprehensive conclusion is then drawn based on all the literature review we have carried out elucidating the benefits of external modulators in high speed microwave applications such as Antenna Remoting, Radar and Satellite links, to name a few.
