The Influence of Big Five Personality Traits and Gender on Generation Z’S Investment Intention in Java

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the influence of The Big Five Personality Traits and Gender on Investment Intention, focusing on Generation Z residing in Java Island. The data collection method utilized a questionnaire distributed through Google Forms, comprising 30 indicators measured on a 6-point Likert Scale. This study involved 150 respondents from Generation Z. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Square (PLS) with SmartPLS 4.0. the study found that Openness to Experience is the primary factor driving Generation Z’s investment intention, particularly toward technology-based investment products such as mobile applications. Extraversion and Agreeableness have a positive influence, while gender has a negative impact. Female members of Generation Z exhibit increasing financial awareness, supported by social media engagement and a preference for sustainable investment (ESG). Investment service providers are advised to develop innovative, transparent, and educational platforms to attract their interest.
