Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2025, Vol 38, Issue 1
Abstract
Government support plays a significant role in the management practices of public libraries. This study employed descriptive regression research design to determine the influence of government support on the management practices of public libraries. A total number of 105 licensed librarians employed in public libraries in the Philippines were chosen as study respondents using simple random technique. The data were gathered using a self-made questionnaire that passed the tests of content validity and internal consistency. Mean and simple linear regression analysis were employed to analyze the data. The findings showed that the librarians' level of perception towards the government support and the level of perception towards the management practices of public libraries were high with human resources and library staff getting the highest mean while financial resources and collection receiving the lowest ratings. Moreover, the findings showed that the government support positively influences the management practices of public libraries. Based on the results, it is recommended that the local government officials should provide adequate financial resources for public resources to enhance management practices in terms of collection, services, and facilities.
