THE INFLUENCE OF MOISTURE CONTETNTS ON THE DIELECTRIC RELAXATION OF NOMEX-OIL AND PRESSBOARD-OIL INSULATING SYSTEMS

Abstract

The paper presents measurements of FDS (Frequency Domain Spectroscopy) taken on solid-liquid insulating systems with various moisture contents, based on the aramid paper (NOMEX®) or the pressboard impregnated with transformer oil. The analysis of the moisture contents influence on tested solid-liquid insulating systems was performed with Havriliak-Negami equation. The main parameters of dielectric relaxation were estimated. It was found that the increase of moisture contents results in shortening of the self-relaxation time. The activation energy of this phenomena is determined by the moisture contents. However its value depends on the applied insulating medium. The presented results have practical importance, as high voltage insulation of power devices is based on solid-liquid system (power transformers, bushings, measuring transformers).
