The Investigation of University Websites in Terms of the Community Service Practices

Abstract
The fact that the consciousness of social responsibility of teachers who are the architects of the future has developed will cause them to act with a sense of social responsibility and service to the community in their professional lives and the awareness will also reflect on the students. Thus, it is important to develop the awareness of social responsibility in the process of teacher education. In this way, teacher candidates can be better at solving social problems and be more aware of and more sensitive to the social problems and contribute to social development. In the research, it has been aimed to determine the functions and features of the websites of the state and private universities which are offered to the candidate students, current students of the faculties of education and the other users; and it has also been aimed to evaluate these websites in terms of social service practices. The use of websites and social responsibility projects of a total of 95 faculties of education connected to the state and private universities in the 2015-2016 university preference guides of Student Selection and Placement Center affiliated to Turkish Higher Education Council have been examined through the website content analysis research in the scope of research.
