THE KLASSIC OF RUSSIAN PHILOLOGY, PROFESSOR OF ODESSA RICHELIEU LYCEUM ZELENETSKIY KONSTANTIN PETROVICH (1812–1858) AND ISSUES OF MODERN PHILOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE

Abstract

The article analyses the creative work of K. Zelenetsky whose research contributed to the transformation of the subject of Russian philology and Russian studies of speech. It gives an overview and brief description of Zelenetsky’s creative work, as he created a complete set of textbooks in Russian «Slovesnost» (literature), which included oratory, poetics and history of Russian literature. Zelenetsky’s textbooks formed the basis for the «Theory of Slovesnost (Literature)», which became the main course at all schools and gymnasiums of the Russian Empire in the middle of XIX century. It was Zelenetsky who wrote the first and the only till recently study «Introduction to general philology,» which was his last book. Comparing the system of studies of the Word introduced by K. Zelenetsky, the author outlines the subject and problems of modern Russian philology as the study of the text and its relationship with culture, rules of creation, transmission, storage and reproduction of verbal works.
