THE LURE OF PANTHEISM: ITS EVANGELICAL FLOWERING AND WORLD-WIDE DESIGNS

Abstract

Identifying key elements in the writings of four classic pantheists (Bruno, Spinoza, Toland, Emerson) provides some conceptual access to contemporary pantheism. While pantheists seek to minimize or even avoid an accounting of transcendence, this metaphysical lack re-duces the explanatory power of pantheism.
