The management features of social responsibility of small and medium-sized enterprises

Abstract

Introduction. Social responsibility of enterprises in Ukraine today has a comparatively lower value than financial success. This is due to the general crisis situation of the economy, the desire of enterprises to minimize risks and keep market positions up to improving the situation. Practically outside of the attention in this situation is the problem of social responsibility management of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Purpose. Determination of the features of social responsibility management of SMEs. Results. It is proved that small and medium enterprises are the core of a successful socially-oriented economy of a developed state. Taking into account the significant role of SMEs in the Ukrainian economy, the development of the principles of social responsibility management for them is an extremely urgent task. Three key theses of a strategic nature concerning the management of small enterprises on the basis of social responsibility are revealed. First, it is a problem of coherence of the strategy of social responsibility with the overall strategy of enterprise behavior in the market. Secondly, the imperfection of existing models of social responsibility at the state level leads to the emergence of various conflicts. Thirdly, the existence of a significant problem in the field of monitoring the results of social responsibility management has been identified. Conclusion. The urgency of the issue of social responsibility is determined by the tendency of the growth of their role in the Ukrainian economy as a result of the structural redistribution that has taken place in recent years. Lack of effective strategic mechanisms for interaction with stakeholders, low awareness of managers and entrepreneurs with models of social responsibility, lack of experience and skills in matching the interests of society and enterprises, lack of financial and human resources impedes the introduction of social responsibility elements into the activities of SMEs. We recommend strengthening cooperation between enterprises and state authorities, local self-government, public organizations for establishing a dialogue on issues of social responsibility and harmonizing the interests of enterprises and society. A promising direction for further research is the justification of outsourcing tools for social responsibility management for small and medium enterprises.
