THE MOTIVATIONS OF IMPLEMENTING AND DEVELOPING EMS IN INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES FROM ROMANIA

Abstract
In the last decade, the lively interest in effectively and efficiently managing the environmental issues faced by industrial enterprises has grown. This interest has been materialized by the implementation of some environmental management systems (EMS) based on ISO 14001 international standards. Practitioners’ and specialists’ debates regarding the benefits and motivations of implementing EMS in the form of integrated management systems along with quality, health and operational security are more and more frequent in the literature. The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the interest of industrial enterprises to implement and develop an EMS and to identify and emphasize the main reasons that lie at the core of these actions. Managerial field: environmental management, company management system, environmental policies and strategies, motivations for implementing EMSs.
