The organizational activities of Union Liberation of Ukraine camps prisoners imperial army in Austria- Hungary (1914-1916)

Abstract
In the article the basic directions organization of Union Liberation Ukraine (ULU) prisoners camps imperial army in Austria- Hungary in the autumn of 1914-1916, Which appeared in the packing lists Ukrainian libraries and landscaping, as well as sending propaganda literature for Ukrainian activists in the camps. To perform such work camps were sent to representatives of the ULU, which sometimes had to work in difficult conditions multinational camps, residents are not always receiving adequate nutrition. A large number of prisoners remained in Oman Russian chauvinistic ideas, which further complicated the process of survey of prisoners in the camps. Despite this, emissaries ULU could successfully complete its work and launch a process of national separation prisoner’s royal army. Singling out the Ukrainian prisoners from the crowd and their transportation to the camp Freistadt enabled its gradual Ukrainization. At the start of this process was Basil Symovych, later joined him a few more people from the Ukrainian intelligentsia, including Roman Dombchevskyy, Eugene Turul, Basil Pachovsky and others. It is through the efforts of these individuals for organizational and financial support Union of Ukraine's liberation was possible to subject prisoners Ukrainian system influential Ukrainian liberation thought, involving them in the cultural, educational and national-patriotic organizations in the camp Freistadt. Successful consequences of ULU among prisoners in the Russian army of Austria-Hungary convinced him to wire the feasibility of the spring 1916 survey and another 17 camps organizational survey, which maintained a significant number of Ukrainian. They were sent thirty experienced agitators among Ukrainian activists and staff of Educational Department ULU Freistadt camp, had the task of informing soldiers about the state of Ukrainian affairs. Thus, due to organizational of delegates ULU prisoners in the camps was possible to distinguish from the crowd Ukrainian prisoners and their subsequent transfer to the Ukrainian camp.
