THE PHENOMENON OF UKRAINIAN CORDOCENTRISM IN THE TALE BY LES GOMIN «THE CORNER OF HEART»

Abstract

The article is dedicated to manifestations of such a philosophical phenomenon like Ukrainian cordocentrism on materials of tale by Les Gomin «The corner of heart». The topicality and novelty of science investigation are caused by interdisciplinarity, author’s appeal to philosophic context, in which the system of characters in analyzed text is extrapolated. The aim of work – is to research in complex the system of motives and characters of the tale; to analyze the philosophical foundation of author’s intention. According to this, the methodology of our research is built of works by D. Chizhevskii, V. Gorskii, M. Gnatuk, S.Yarmus, L. Voitkiv, A. Sokira and etc. Paying attention to the conception of «philosophical heart» by D. Chizhevskii and «Ukrainian cordocentrism» by M. Gnatuk, we can register the cordocentric direction of plot in the tale by Les Gomin, which can be understood as a specific national streak of tale’s poetics. Non typical images of characters of soviet village reality – people, who are followed by heart, not by brain in making global decisions, give reasons to speak about «apocryphally» of story «The corner of heart» in the context of social realistic literature of the 30-th XX century. The arguments for this fact serve archival documents, according to which Les Gomin – the author of analyzed story – was subjected to repressions, particularly because of the story «The corner of heart» – the text about love, the conflict of rain and heart, and the search of harmony in difficult commonness of the 30-th years. Thus, it was ascertain, that «the philosophy of heart» in this text, is one of basic, motive constituent of the plot. On the example of main heroes’ relationships in the text, we can prove, that cordocentrism as a structural component of Ukrainian mentality, plays motivate part in Ukrainian person’s life, and promotes to reach the harmony and to conquer the split personality. Such interpretation of the text opens wide prospects for further researchers in cultural – philosophic context and gives opportunity to fill in lacunas in history of Ukrainian literature process of the first half of previous century.
