THE PROBLEM OF STYLE IN THE MUSICOLOGICAL STUDIES: EXPERIENCE OF SYSTEMATIZATION

Abstract
The stages of the evolution of the scientific consideration of the musical style categories are defined. Based on the fundamental musicological studies of the 20th-21st centuries the controversial character of the style problem research is defined. The most fundamental theses of the theory of style are emphasized from the position of artistic unity, differentiation, systematic integrity of stylistic features, tone nature of style and its multilevel essence. The basic aspects of historical typology of the musical style are analyzed. The article reveals the gist of such notions as “historical style”, “national style” and “individual style”. A scientific experience of musical style research is systematized.
