The quasi-static analysis of joint patterns on the stability of rock slopes

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 2

Abstract

In this paper, the effect of joint models on the stability of rock slopes was investigated in quasi-static loads. For this purpose, the rock slopes with different joint patterns were modeled using the Phase2 software and their stability were determined with different earthquake accelerations. The joint models are Parallel deterministic, Parallel statistical, Cross jointed, Baecher, Veneziano and Voronoi. The obtain results show that in all slopes and for all joint patterns, the maximum of SRF changes is related to the earthquake acceleration of 0.3g and the minimum of SRF changes is related to the earthquake acceleration of 0.1g. By increasing dip of slopes, trend of SRF changes becomes irregular.
