THE ROLE OF ALLUSION IN SALMAN RUSHDIE’S NOVEL «SATANIC VERSES»

Abstract
This article investigates the allusion as intertextual phenomenon in literary text, on the material of Salman Rushdie’s novel «Satanic Verses». We consider such terms as allusion, literary allusion and intertextuality. The novel ‘Satanic Verses’ is extremely interesting material for study. It contains huge variety of covert and open allusions, and rises a number of controversial, and sometimes scandal, issues. Unfortunately, Salman Rushdie’s works haven’t been researched enough, this article is very relevant nowadays.
