The Role of Investment Control Systems in Investment Risk Mitigation

Abstract
In a market-driven economy, risk is omnipresent and intrinsic, albeit to a varying degree, to all kinds economic activity, including investment activity. When it comes to investments incurring significant risk, investors’ decisions largely depend on their ability to hedge against its adverse effects. Although risk cannot be eliminated altogether, it is possible to mitigate or reduce it. To this end, it seems vital to better exploit investment control systems providing means to respond to most factors affecting the success of an investment project, thereby reducing investment risk. The aim of the paper is to present the role of management control in mitigating risk associated with business investment activities.
