Abstract
Participles belong to the infinite forms, which are always difficult to analyze, because they combine features of different categories. The article deals with syntactic functions of Participles II of the Middle High German period in some predicts of Berthold of Regensburg. At first all possible ways of verbal occurrence of the Participle II were presented. The interpretation was represented then. In the corpus there are examples, classification of which is doubtful. That is why they were proved according to this interpretation. It was distinguished that Participles II in the researched period have different syntactic functions. In some participle construction different transformations of manner are observed. They can be close whether to the adjective or to the verb. The forms which lean toward the verbal classes can’t be used as predicative. But most participles II admit this performance because they have a penchant for the adjective. From the results of the study it can be argued that participle II can be used either as a part of verbal forms no as an adjective. The examples illustrate that such use of verbs is acceptable for the Middle High German language.
