The Translation Activities in the Abbaside Period

Abstract

Throughout the history all civilizations have transferred knowledge from a previous civilization or from a contemporary civilization. The most important channel of transferring knowledge has been translation. In this article, translation activities in Abbaside period - enclosed particularly from the middle of 8th century to the end of 10th century - which had a great influence on the formation of Islamic philosophy, development and dissemination of sciences in Islamic geography are dealt with.
