THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF PLASMA SPRAYED AL2O3 CERAMIC COATINGS

Abstract

The article presents the tribological properties of plasma sprayed coatings based on ceramic powder Al2O3 and Al2O3 powder with the addition of 4% Mo. Coating tests were carried out in combination with a C45 steel using Amsler A 135 friction and wear tester in dry and mixed friction conditions. Tribosystems were lubricated with gear oil Shell Spirax S2 A 80W-90 used in drilling devices for oil and gas. The effect of the coating type and the type of friction on the tribological properties of the coatings tested was demonstrated. The best tribological properties were obtained for the Al2O3 coating with the addition of 4% Mo.
