THE USE OF MOSAIC NUMBERS IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION

Abstract
In order to solicit pupils interest in mathematics, teacher is required to have not only methodological skills, but also in-depth understanding and appreciation of mathematical concepts and facts. Pupils are introduced to many of mathematical concepts without the strict definition, and frequently this happens implicitly. All this poses requirements to mathematical background of teacher. In particular, teacher is required to be well-knowledgeable of the theoretical bases of a school course in mathematics. The paper dwells on several examples of teaching arithmetic progression. In particular, the authors have introduced the concept of mosaic numbers, and have linked them to arithmetic progression.
