THE WAYS OF AROMATONYMS’ ORIGIN

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the ways of origin of proper names denoting perfumes — aromatonyms. English aromatonyms were chosen as the object of the study, onymisation and transonymisation as means of the origin — the subject. The main tasks, performed in this research, are to determine and to analyze the main means of origin of aromatonyms. The material of the research was selected by continuous selection of different genres of the English mass media materials, including electronic media, almost one hundred English aromatonyms of two famous brands. Much attention is paid to the processes of onymisation and transonymisation, which are illustrated by examples, and correlation between them. Quantitative calculations allow to justify some conclusions as for the most common way of origin of aromatonyms and to determine prevalence of transonymisation process.
