Journal Title: Más Vita - Year 2024, Vol 6, Issue 4
Abstract
Introduction:Acute kidney failure (AKI) is an abrupt deterioration in kidney function that can trigger serious complications, especially affecting patients with diabetes, hypertension or a history of kidney disease. Objective: to review the therapeutic role of nursing in the management of ARF, focusing on clinical monitoring, management of fluids and electrolytes, prevention of complications and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. Methodology:A bibliographic review of articles published between 2019 and 2024 on acute renal failure, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis was carried out. The search included databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Elsevier. The selected studies were evaluated for theirrelevance to the topic and the quality of the scientific evidence. Results:Constant monitoring of the clinical status of patients with ARI is one of the most important nursing interventions. Monitoring of vital signs and biochemical parameters such as electrolytes, monitoring of volume overload, administration of intravenous solutions, diuretics and detection of metabolic acidosis and pulmonary edema. Conclusion:Nursing plays a key role in the management of ARF, contributing to improving the prognosis and reducing complications. Timely intervention and comprehensive care are essential to prevent progression to chronic kidney disease
