THREE-DIMENSIONAL ORGANIZATION OF THE MAIN ACADEMIC BUILDINGS TERRITORIES OF THE NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF UKRAINE “KYIV POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE” AND YURIY FEDKOVYCH CHERNIVTSI NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The scientific article presents research results, the aim of which was to conduct the analysis of three-dimensional organization of the main academic buildings territories of the most famous universities of Ukraine – National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (academic buildings № 1 and 4) and Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (academic buildings № 4, 5 and 6). The author conducted a retrospective analysis of these universities main academic buildings architectural complexes formation and development. Also their modern urban situation was determined. Besides, the space planning and stylistic peculiarities of these main academic buildings, which have formed an adjacent territory three-dimensional organization were identified. As a result, were detected the common features in their planning structures: the presence of the cour d’honneur (a three-sided courtyard, created by flanking the main central block with symmetrical advancing secondary wings containing minor rooms) on the both universities territories. So, the landscaping and greening of these festive ceremonial courtyards and other surrounding areas were analyzed. Moreover, were carried out the assessment of the plantation compositions and analyzed the three-dimensional organization structural elements symbolical content, through which revealed the individuality and uniqueness of the whole territory. It was found, that symbolical content of the territories is revealed by buildings (which are symbols of scientific centers of Ukraine), small architectural forms (monuments of famous scientists, university graduates and architectural complex author; symbolic sculptures; benches, urns and lanterns). As a result, carried out parallels and identified the common characteristics of the university main academic buildings and adjacent areas landscaping receptions.
