Journal Title: Journal of Special Education and Rehabilitation - Year 2004, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
The process of growth and development of each child is strictly individualized and depends on genetic base and on different environmental influences. Although this refers to children in general, the developmental process of children with damaged sight carries out in a special situation because of lack of one of the most important channels through which data for reality and environment are gained. LH-symbols are accessible as playing cards or dominoes. These cards are used for exercise and testing, magnifying class me be used, too. Early developmental intervention is very important for the development of children with damaged sight because the previous experience in work with these children shows that the damage of the sight influences the development of the child’s motor functions, conceptual development, communication skills, experience and ability to move independently and in games. Early developmental intervention can be organized by: schools for children with damaged sight, the Association for blind people, Institute for special education and rehabilitation and Eye Clinic and others.
