TOPONYMIZATION IN UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE ONOMASTICS SYSTEM

Abstract
The article examines the processes of toponymization of animal names in the onomastic system of the Ukrainian language; characterizes the basic rethinking principles of appellative names; illuminates the motivational factors of faunistic designation involvement in the toponymic sphere; reveals the origin of certain toponyms of the Northern Greater Black Sea Coast area. The purpose of the article is characteristic of the faunal names toponymization process in the modern Ukrainian language (based on the toponyms’ material of the south of Ukraine). The subject of the research is the toponymization process of animal names in the Ukrainian language (based on the toponyms’ material of the south of Ukraine in comparison with regional toponyms). The scientific novelty of the work consists in generalization and systematization of the Ukranian toponymy in general and regional in particular and also in the accomplishment of a complex analysis of the animal names toponymization processes in the southern Ukrainian onomasticon. In the process of research, such methods were used: descriptive, classification, quantitative and qualitative analysis.
