TRAINING-INDUCED ALTERATIONS OF THE CUTANEOUS VASCULAR BED IN JUDO ATHLETES
Journal Title: Medycyna Sportowa - Year 2009, Vol 25, Issue 2
Abstract
Background. The aim of the presented study was to evaluate functional alterations of the cutaneous microcirculation in judo athletes. Materiał and methods. The study was performed in 11 małe judo athletes, during the compe-tition period. The control group consisted of 31 volunteers, practicing no regular physical exercise. The microcirculation was measured using Doppler laser flowmeter Perifluks 4001. Rest flow, hyper-aemic, hypeńhermic and ońhostatic reactMty of skin microcirculation and maximal minutę oxygen uptake were evaluated. Apań from the freauency, signal power was also analyzed. Results. Beside biological zero, all other measured parameters were statistically significant-ly higher in the judo athletes - (rest flow - 28.64±5.28 PU; biological zero - 2.81±0.42 PU; reac-tive hyperemia - 130.61±22.96 PU; thermal hyperemia - 265.99±39.89 PU; ońhostatic reactMty - 48.51±1.47%; V02max - 58.05±15.07 ml-kg-min1), compared with the control group (rest flow -15.58±16.27 PU; biological zero - 2.94±0.37 PU; the reactive hyperemia - 70.96±24.48 PU; thermal hyperemia - 171.39±39.18 PU; ońhostatic reactMty - 42.36±2.97%; V02max - 5.14±8.65 ml-kg-min1). The freauency analysis showed smaller oscillations of the sympathetic system and also in the cardiac freauency and increased actMty of the endothelium in the judo athletes. Conclusions. In judo athletes, a regular training has a definitely positive impact on cutaneous microcirculation, significantly raismg the parameters of both the resting blood flow, pro-voked reactions and the values of parameters that suggest morę efficient activity of the endothelium but decreased values of the parameters defining the activity of the sympathetic nen/ous system.
