Traumatic experience, psychological birth order, social interest of students, in the prediction of psychological hardiness

Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the role of traumatic experience, psychological birth order and social interest levels in university students, in the prediction of their psychological hardiness levels. Participants were 438 students (328 female, 110 male) who were chosen randomly. Psychological Hardiness Scale (PHS), Social Interest Scale (SIS), White-Campbell Psychological Birth Order Inventory (PBOI) was used. The SSPS 21.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) was used for the nalysis of the collected data. Pearson Moments Correlation, hierarchical regression analyze, and T- test was used to analyze data. As a result of the research it has been seen that there is a meaningful relationship among psychological hardiness, commitment, control, challenge and social interest. There was a positive relationship between the oldest and middle birth-order positions in psychological hardiness and social interest. There was a negative relationship between the middle birth-order and social interest. Social interest was a predictor of challenge, commitment, control. Oldest birth-order position were predictors of commitment and control. Only child birth-order position were predictors of commitment and challenge. Traumatic life events were predictors of commitment.
