Treatment of dyslipidemia in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2005, Vol 57, Issue
Abstract
The article reviews the key aspects of pathophysiology of diabetic dyslipidemia, its treatment and associated risk of cardiovascular complications. It examines the difference in lipidmetabolism between type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The diagnostic values of particular lipid abnormalitiesas risk predictors for cardiovascular events are analyzed. Guidelines on hypolipemic treatment in diabetes are summarized and commented on. Standard and newly introduced methods as well as new opportunities of hypolipemic treatment are presented.

Effect of co-treatment with fluoxetine or mirtazapine and risperidone on the active behaviors and plasma corticosterone concentration in rats subjected to the forced swim test.
Several clinical reports have postulated a beneficial effect of the addition of a low dose of risperidone to the ongoing treatment with antidepressants in treatment-resistant depression.
Modification of local anesthetic-induced antinociception by fentanyl in rats.
In clinical practice, using the lowest doses of drugs for anesthesia or analgesia is the main goal. Opioid combinations with local anesthetics can be preferable for achieving adequate anesthesia or analgesia. The primary...
9-Methyl-beta-carboline has restorative effects in an animal model of Parkinson's disease.
In a previous study, a primary culture of midbrain cells was exposed to 9-methyl-beta-carboline for 48 h, which caused an increase in the number of tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells. Quantitative RT-PCR revealed increa...
Effects of curcumin on the skeletal system in rats.
There is increasing interest in the discovery of natural compounds that could favorably affect the skeletal system. Curcumin is a constituent of turmeric, a plant which has been used for centuries as a dietary spice and...
Frequency-dependent inhibition of antidromic hippocampal compound action potentials by anti-convulsants.
Using rat hippocampal slices, extracellularly recorded antidromic compound action potentials (cAP) were produced in CA1 pyramidal cell populations by electrical stimulation of the alveus at 0.5 Hz. These responses were a...
