TRENDS IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2013, Vol 58, Issue 1
Abstract
Surgical Robotics today is essentially about two families of devices, namely telemanipulators and simulators for mini-invasive (endoscopic) procedures. In both cases, the user-interface, i.e. the “joystick” to be manipulated by the surgeon is one of the key elements. Today’s commercial telemanipulators still rely almost exclusively on visual feedback only. Some surgery training simulators already have haptic (or force-) feedback. It is only a question of time until most surgical robots will have haptic feedback. In this contribution, we describe trends of surgical robotics with special emphasis on the possibilities and the significance of haptic man-machine interface. Potential synergies with cognitive neuroscience are highlighted.

AXIAL IMPACT OF OPEN-SECTION TWCF COLUMNS – EXPERIMENTAL STUDY
The paper is devoted to the results of experimental study into the crushing behaviour of TWCF open section columns subjected to axial impact. Steel channel and top-hat section was under investigation. The paper contains...
ON THE LINEARIZATION OF EXPERIMENTAL HYSTERETIC LOOPS
In this paper is presented a linearization method developed on the basis of the experimental hysteresis loop, by considering the most general case, when there is no mathematical model associated with the hysteretic behav...
STOCHASTIC LINEARIZATION OF SYSTEMS WITH HYSTERETIC CHARACTERISTICS
In this paper is presented a linearization method for a stochastic differential system with hysteretic characteristics and random excitation. The Gaussian equivalent linearization technique is applied to a system with hy...
INVERSE DYNAMICS OF THE CINCINNATI-MILACRON WRIST ROBOT
Recursive matrix relations in dynamics of the Cincinnati-Milacron wrist robot are established in this paper. The prototype of this mechanism is a three-degrees-of freedom spherical system with six moving links and three...
BUCKLING CURVES FOR HEAVY WIDE FLANGE STEEL COLUMNS
This paper proposes existing European buckling curves to be used for checking the resistance of heavy wide flange columns made from mild and highstrength steel, failing by flexural buckling. Buckling curves are not avail...
