Tuberculosis in children and adolescents - actual and important problem
Journal Title: Przegląd Pediatryczny - Year 2006, Vol 36, Issue 4
Abstract
The incidence of tuberculosis is still increasing in children and adolescents in Poland. The combination of careful anamnesis, clini-cal symptoms, features of radiographic images as well as tuberculin tests is necessary for proper diagnosis of the disease, especially in children. The article presents current knowledge of the clinical and imaging findings, as well as tuberculosis diagnostics, indica-ting the specific differences in pediatric patients as compared with the adults. In the article the diverse spectrum of TB infections in children and adolescents, both of pulmonary and extra pulmonary TB, is discussed. The presented analysis should help to make treatment decisions in atypical cases.
