Turystyka oparta na dziedzictwie kulturowym kolei – czy bariery formalne i finansowe skutecznie blokują jej rozwój?

Abstract
Railway tourism is an important element of local and regional economies in many European countries. We are observing in this countries more and more development and better quality of services. Also in Poland this type of tourism began to gain popularity. Unfortunately, in spite of the many trials being undertaken in many places, the level of services offered in Poland is still in most cases deviating from the western standards. Authors who are both theoreticians and have practical experience in managing railway tourism objects and creating their offer are trying to define the barriers caused by this situation. Due to the different characteristics, they are analyzed separately for standard-gauge railways and separately for narrow-gauge railways. Diagnosis of the state of affairs constitutes an assumption to the summaries, conclusions and recommendations which, in the authors’ assessment, can reverse the unfavorable tendencies.
