Type 2 diabetes mellitus: Self-care in older adults, from the NOC approach

Abstract
Introduction:Self-care is the ability of a person to apply the necessary care to cope with a disease or to prevent it, but in the case of the "Lupita Nolivos" fellowship, which provides medical care to older adults who are the ones who mostly are affected, it is necessary that the nurse trio knows both the results and interventions that allow safeguarding the integrity of this group of people, as well as knowing at what level they can apply care to themselves. Objective:To describe the NOC taxonomy in the self-care of the elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods:This study is carried out under a quantitative modality with a positivist approach, as a data collection instrument the survey and the data sheet are used. observation, while the sample is 50 medical records. Results:In three of the surveys,it was possible to identify that older adults have good habits that allow them to have a healthy life and through the observation sheet it was possible to capture the most common results and interventionswithin the CAE. Conclusions:Older adults respect the medical prescription and live in harmony with their condition, thanks to the fact that they are given periodic controls, on the other hand, the results of the medical record show that the most common results are lack of sleep, problems evacuation, nutritional disorder, emotional problems among others, which are treated through control interventions that allow regulating their metabolism
