Üçağızlı Cave Initial Upper Paleolitic Period Lithic Culture

Abstract
Rapid changes in the stone tool technology have been observed in the transition from the Late Middle Paleolithic to the Early Upper Paleolithic in the Levant. This process is characterized especially with, increases in number of the blade tools. Parallel with the production of blade tools, shell beads used for decoration and bone tools had also increased. This process is defined as the Initial Upper Paleolithic culture and it is transitional technology between end of the Middle Paleolithic and beginning of Early Upper Paleolithic. In this study, stone tools in Initial Upper Paleolithic layers, comprised I-H-G-F at Üçağızlı Cave, were examined in typological and technological aspects. Initial Upper Paleolithic culture at Üçağızlı Cave shows similarity with the Levant region, and the Cave is located the north of the region.
