Use of optical filters in production of VSB modulation in the multiplex systems of wavelength multiplexing

Abstract
The ever-increasing data traffic on every telecommunications network and the Internet leads to a unique explosion of intense research in order to increase channel capacity. One such research effort is on 40 Gb/s per channel in optical Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM ) communications systems .One way to increase the information capacity that could be transmitted over a single fibers is to utilize VSB Modulation format, so that Bit-error-rate(BER) of 1012 or better can be achieved across all channels. In this paper optical filters are used to generate VSB Modulation and the design of the band-pass elliptic optical filter is described. The simulation results with MATLAB software are presented .hence gives summary of the most common modulation format for 40 GB/s optical s stems and comparison are made between.
