Journal Title: BEST : International Journal of Humanities , Arts, Medicine and Sciences ( BEST : IJHAMS ) - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
Developments in the fields of science, technology, communication, medication etc. have revolutionized the human life at the material level. But in actuality this progress is only superficial as in the internal context all modern men and women are living under conditions of great mental and emotional stress because of numerous reasons in the external and internal environment and the mental make-up. The solution to provide serenity to the disturbed mental state is in the method of self – transformation through self- observation i.e. Vipassana. This age- old technique given by Gautama Buddha to the world enables an individual to experience peace and harmony; purifying the mind, freeing it from suffering and the deep-seated causes of suffering. The present study is an attempt to share the technique of Vipassana to the masses so that people can find a peaceful solution to problems within themselves by merely controlling their reactions to individuals and situations.
