Why the coopetition is beneficial – case study

Abstract

Electricity market is special against common being and scientific explored fields of the researches. This specificity is stemming from the product, which is the object of trade on it: electricity. It is characterized by a relative homogenous and inability to store it, which determine not only forms and a size of the competition, its intensity accelerated by liberalization and deregulation of the market, but also all the processes connected with the electricity turnover and interorganizational behaviors of the market actors. One of them is coopetition identified (on the Polish energy market between electricity sellers) by author, which represents “blue ocean strategies”, in which zero-one market game results are deputized by result win-win. In explored fields of being coopetition so far, has been noticed that the source of mutual benefits stemming from coopetition to actors involved in is a differentiation of levels of being of coopetitive interactions: competition and cooperation. The aim of this paper is to verify whether this dependence is present also on the specific, Polish electricity market, based on data obtained from simple case study with the replication strategy, documents and observation conducted in relation to Polish detail electricity sellers in order thank to data triangulation and research method triangulation to maintain research objectivity and validity of the obtained results. Author’s researches clearly showed that the source of the mutual benefits stemming from coopetition to actors involved in on the Polish electricity market is differentiation of levels of being of coopetitive interactions, which confirms previous results of researches in this field conducted on the different market and economic sectors.
