Abstract
The author undertakes an attempts to historical analysis of the introduction to the excellent theoretical treatise of the Old Ruthenian church singing, the so-called „Izwieszczenija o sogłasniejszich pomietach” by Aleksander Mezenets. This is aimed to trace the history of reforms of the Orthodox church singing carried out in 1652-1670 by the members of the first and second Commission. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the introduction of the Miezieniec treaty, the author prove that in terms of the structure and manner of presenting content, this work is radically different from other treaties known in the Rus. The author also points to the turning point in the history of reforms of the Orthodox church singing in the Moscow State, which was the election of Joazaf II in 1667 of the patriarchal throne, when the persecution of the Old Believers increased. Analyzing the individual fragments of the introduction, the author points to richness of local tradition of the Orthodox church singing, which the reformers have used.
