Wybrane charakterystyki turbulencji na obszarach miejskich, rolniczych i naturalnych (Selected turbulence characteristics in urban, rural and natural areas)

Abstract
The paper presents basic characteristics of the atmospheric turbulence over various types of surface cover. Three measurement stations, the data from which is used in the paper, represent three surface types. Urban areas are represented by the measurement site located in the city of Łódź, in Lipowa 81 str. The agricultural site is located in Annosław village, and the third site is situated close to the village Kopytkowo in the wetlands of the Biebrza National Park. The work is based on multi-annual fast response (10 Hz) eddy-covariance measurements of meteorological parameters. The annual and diurnal variability of parameters such as turbulent kinetic energy, the stability parameter, the Obukhov length, bulk transfer coeffi-cient for momentum and friction velocity were analyzed. The results show a clear distinction of urban areas which manifests in increased air instability and more intensive mechanical turbulence. This fact could be attributed to surface urban heat island and increased roughness of urban areas.
