Abstract
This article focuses on revealing functions of the postposition から(kara) which expresses Japanese ablative case. The known classifications of functions of the postposition から(kara) are analyzed. The meanings and functions of the postposition of the ablative case in the modern Japanese language are defined, similar and distinctive features in the functioning of the postposition of the ablative case in modern Japanese and Azerbaijani languages are clarified.
