AGRICULTURAL LAND CONSOLIDATION – NEW SUGGESTIONS FROM THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT

Abstract
The article focuses on agricultural land consolidation. Land consolidation is regarded as an instrument which can solve the problem of fracturing agricultural land which has previously been shared. We have analyzed bill drafts which can provide the mechanism of agricultural land consolidation. Despite the detailed procedure presented in one of the bill drafts it includes drawbacks which mitigate its advantages and contradicts Constitution of Ukraine. Another bill draft lacks a mechanism of providing land exchange in order to optimize agricultural land. We conclude that legislative initiatives should focus not only on creating a consolidation mechanism but at other measures which can prevent from fracturing agricultural land.
